Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence, American Standard – Piscataway, NJ

The Sr. Manager, Competitive Intelligence develops and Implements a process to identify management’s intelligence needs, gathers and analyzes the relevant information, provides timely reports to be acted upon based on the analyses, and implements the recommendations of intelligence reporting and management.  Key to success is to regularly predict, with a high degree of accuracy, future competition and market activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify intelligence needs of the organization, through one-to-one communications of key employees; duties specific to the function may include the assessment of the following: what decision need to be made, why decisions need to be made, when decisions need to be made, and who will use the intelligence to make the decisions.
  • Research and analyze areas of interest to the company which will allow the company to gain a competitive advantage.
  • Participate in management meetings, providing intelligence briefings.
  • Monitor internal and external environments for development of new business processes.
  • Perform market research and analysis.
  • Gather information for project-related research; analyze that information; and produce reports based on the analyses.
  • Implement the recommendations of intelligence reporting and management.
  • Provide timely intelligence reporting to the CEO.
  • Attend educational, and sales & marketing events provided by industry participants.
  • Participate in trade shows as a representative of the company.
  • Maintain communications with direct contacts used for ongoing monitoring of the external environment and project-related research.
  • Spend 70% of time in direct contact with competitive market: telephone interviews, surveys and/or questionnaires, focus groups, and collaborative visits.
  • Spend 30% of time in direct contact with non-competitive market: industry analysts, financial analysts, and universities.
  • Develop and implement a virtual library of information gathered from published sources; content may include competition’s filings, government filings, industry publications, and local/national/international press.
  • Maintain and advanced knowledge of trends affecting the industry in all relevant areas including political and legal.
Qualifications:
  • Position requires a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of business management experience in water technology or related industry. Past experience in the field of intelligence is desirable.
