Knowledge & Research Specialist (Pro Libra)

Pro Libra's client, a large international law firm is currently seeking a Knowledge /Research Specialist to join their team. Primary duties include furthering the Firm’s KM initiatives in enterprise search and providing research services to their attorneys and staff.  As part the Knowledge team, candidate must possess an interest in KM projects with emphasis on implementation and best practices and an interest in working as a member of a very busy research and reference team.  
 

In addition to providing top notch reference service and participating in furthering the Firm’s KM initiatives, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1.  Working with research team colleagues to provide unequaled reference service throughout all offices. Make recommendations on best resources, participate in trainings and presentations.

2.  Library Liaison to Firm’s KM initiatives in the area of Enterprise Search, including formulating best practices, training opportunities and integration within reference services. Researching and implementing other KM tools and dashboards as opportunities emerge.

3.  Participate with members of Electronic Services Projects team on ongoing projects: Portal enhancement and development, current awareness services revitalization, assist with Electronic Services administration and work with the team to gather, tabulate and present metrics to create a visualization of ROI for Library resources.

4.  Familiarity with Competitive Intelligence Resources and interest in acting as Library liaison to Marketing/Business Development. Follow developments in CI/BD resources and make regular presentations to the group. Develop pathfinders/webpage to streamline access to resources and create template documents for standardizing league table requests.

Skills required:

In-depth knowledge of legal and business databases, including but not limited to: Lexis Advance, WestlawNext, Intelligize, Securities Mosaic, CapitalIQ, BloombergLaw and Bloomberg Professional, ThomsonOne, CCH, Pacer, Courtlink, CourtAlert, PerfectInformation, PLC, Corsearch and Patbase.

Knowledge of Sharepoint, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Research Monitor, DecisivSearch and emerging technologies preferred.

Ref and Instr'l Health Sci Lib, Molloy College (NY)

The Molloy College Library in Rockville Centre, NY is seeking a Reference and Instructional Health Sciences Librarian.

Reporting to the Associate Librarian Head of Reference Services, the Reference and Instructional Health Sciences Librarian provides tailored information instruction (both in a classroom and a one-on-one environment), reference and research services to students, faculty, staff and other patrons of the James E. Tobin Library. 

The Health Sciences Librarian will primarily work with students in Molloy College’s numerous health sciences programs, including, but not limited to: the Ph.D in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Nurse Practitioner, RN-BSN, Bachelor’s in Nursing, Bachelor’s in Cardiovascular Therapy, and Bachelor’s in Respiratory Therapy programs. Education and experience in a health sciences field (nursing preferred) is required for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide reference, instructional, and research services to students, faculty members, and other patrons of the James E. Tobin Library.
  • Develop customized classroom instruction sessions upon request.
  • Teach research and search strategies to patrons in small and large groups and / or one-on-one sessions.
  • Update and maintain online tutorials utilizing LibGuides
  • Remain current in navigating academic resources held by the James E. Tobin Library.
  • Other library related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an American Library Association accredited school.
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field, and at least two years working in that field.
  • Strong knowledge of medicine and healthcare related academic databases such as  CINAHL, Cochrane, PubMed and Ovid.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assist students at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels, adjusting style and teaching techniques as necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a health sciences field (nursing preferred)
  • At least two years of experience in an academic library and prior experience teaching instructional sessions
  • Experience with citation managers, especially RefWorks or ProQuest Flow is desired

Electronic Resources Librarian - The Sheldon L. Sirota Memorial Library

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
*     Administers the integrated library system

*   Coordinates and conducts training with staff and student assistants on new and updated Innovative Interfaces modules including serials, cataloging, circulation, OP AC and Web Access Management
*   Works with other Touro libraries to coordinate INNOP AC (Innovative Interfaces Online Public Access Catalog) efforts.

Serials & Media Librarian, Molloy College (NY)

Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY is seeking a Serials & Media Librarian.



GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Serials & Media Librarian manages the selection/deselection, activation and maintenance of print and electronic journals, as well as physical media. Critical skills include demonstrated knowledge of electronic resource management, proxy servers, open URL and the ability to troubleshoot linking and availability of journals subscribed to outside of a database or streaming media environment. Additionally, demonstrated knowledge is required for serials and collection development practices in general, including a thorough understanding of publication patterns, serials processing and claims. This is a full-time 12-month position; desired hours are Monday-Friday, 11-7.

The Librarian in this role is also extremely proficient in academic research strategies, electronic resources and emerging trends. Familiarity with configuring, utilizing and navigating Molloy’s subscription journals as well as the ability to service undergraduates, graduates, doctoral students and faculty is a required aspect of the job. Lastly, as an academic librarian there are other assigned duties that include reference shifts, academic department liaison work, teaching/instruction and collection development activities in adherence with the Library’s Collection Development and Deselection Policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serials & Media Librarian

·         Manage the budget, selection/deselection and assessment of print and electronic periodicals and physical media (e.g., VHS, CDs, DVDs); including long-range planning (i.e., P-to-E Strategy) and implementation of goals and objectives for both collections in an academic environment
·         Coordinate the processing and display of physical media and current print issues of journals, magazines, and newspapers
·         Maintain an electronic resource management (ERM) system.
·         Possess an understanding of electronic resources and video licensing, including copyright and distribution restrictions
·         Troubleshoot access problems associated with electronic serials, particularly in a discovery environment.
·         Work closely with vendors and negotiate licenses for periodicals
·         Coordinate maintenance of holdings and item records for periodicals and physical media.
·         Gather, monitor, and evaluate usage statistics related to physical media, print and electronic serials, including an analysis of overlap held in databases and ILL requests
·         Provide technical instruction and support on new products or platforms as necessary
·         Ensure the serials collection meet the requirements of current and proposed degree programs; provides appropriate documentation that contributes to and supports the accreditation process
·         Monitors appropriate listservs in order to remain current in the field


PERIPHERAL DUTIES: Academic Librarian


·         Reference shifts as scheduled
·         Serves patrons at all levels, adjusting style and teaching techniques as necessary
·         Advanced bibliographic searching skills, including extensive knowledge of Molloy’s electronic resources e.g., databases, journal and ebook portals
·         Information Literacy instruction (either classroom or one-on-one) as assigned
·         Act in the capacity of library liaison in assigned subject areas. Includes communication and coordination with faculty counterparts in collection development and maintenance (e.g., acquisitions, deselection), performing routine maintenance (e.g., lost and missing items, items without barcodes, etc.) as well as preparing supporting documentation for program or accreditation initiatives that fall within the assigned subject areas
·         Creation/maintenance of LibGuides in liaison, multi-disciplinary and subject-specialty areas
·         Ability and willingness to represent the Library in College-wide initiatives and committees; promotion of Library collections, services and offerings to the campus community and beyond
·         Other duties as assigned

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


·         A Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution
·         Minimum of two years of experience managing electronic resources in an academic library, with focus on electronic serials management
·         Experience with EZproxy, open URL, and other electronic resource management software
·         Demonstrated understanding of current serials and electronic resource management models, practices, and trends within the academic library environment
·         Ability to work effectively and creatively in a rapidly changing library and college environment.
