CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION 

            The Library at Eugenio Maria de Hostos Community College is seeking a part-time Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Access (OA) Librarian (Non-teaching Adjunct) who will provide members of the College community with guidance, instruction, and support in creating, disseminating, and using OERs and OA resources. This advocate for OERs and OAs will report to the OER Librarian and perform the following, but not limited to, duties:

·         Supports development and adoption of Open Educational Resources (OERs) as a member of the Hostos OER team with activities that may include: delivery of workshops for faculty; one-on-one consultation to help faculty identify appropriate OER materials for inclusion or adaptation, navigate online systems, determine copyright, and appropriately license their own materials; and various outreach activities to promote OER development and adoption on campus.

·         Assists with the coordination of the OER program in activities that may include outreach and communication with faculty, chairs, coordinators and other stakeholders on campus; maintaining clear records of projects-in-progress; and helping with development of workflows and best practices. 

·         Works with the Educational Technologies Librarian supporting efforts to increase faculty utilization of the Institutional Repository (IR) with activities that may include delivery of workshops for faculty; one-on-one consultation to help faculty determine eligibility of their scholarly works for IR inclusion and navigation of copyright and licensing issues; uploading works to the IR; assisting faculty and staff with self-submission; and various outreach activities to promote use of the IR within the campus community.

·         Assists with the coordination of the IR program with activities that may include checking and approving submissions; communicating with those who submit work to the IR; and helping with development of workflows and best practices. 

·         Works with the Head of Archives, uploading archival works to the Institutional Repository and other OA platforms.

·         Creates and maintains instructional materials for librarians and faculty related to OER and IR procedures and workflows.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned, including providing reference service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

            Bachelor's Degree required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

The following qualifications are preferred:

·         Master's in Library Science (MLS), Master's in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution or current enrollment in a program awarding such degree

·         Working knowledge of concepts such as intellectual property, copyright, and academic publishing practices

·         Familiarity with OERs, OA, and IRs

·         Experience with outreach and marketing of events or programs

·         Ability to organize, support, and document complicated projects
 
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Availability to work evening and weekend hours

COMPENSATION 

            $48.56/hr

Responsibilities & Requirements


Under the direction of the Direction of Collection and Resource Management, the Head of Acquisitions provides leadership, guidance, and expertise to the departments, including supervision of faculty librarians and professional staff. The Head of Acquisitions will be expected to conduct research and scholarship, and participate in faculty governance, committee works, and continuing professional development consistent with University standards for promotion and tenure. As a faculty librarian, the successful incumbent will take an active role in liaison, reference and instruction duties. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  *  Provide leadership, guidance, and expertise to the Department of Acquisitions, including regular review of department faculty librarians and professional staff.

  *  Advise Director of Collection and Resource Management in the articulation of a user-centered, holistic serials and electronic resources management vision to meet current and emerging information needs and new models of collection/content building and delivery.

  *  Review and evaluate workflows and work assignments, with an eye toward increasing efficiencies, bringing more high-quality content to users more quickly, and building sustainable workflows to handle increasingly heterogeneous digital assets.

  *  Plan, implement, and evaluate operations, establish and document policies and procedures, and set priorities in serials and electronic resources management.

  *  Train, evaluate, and supervise departmental staff, and ensure compliance with local policy and procedure, resource license agreements, as well as best practices in the profession.

  *  Provide budget and collection data to Director of Collection and Resource Management and Associate Dean for Collection Strategy and Management, as well as liaison librarians as appropriate.

  *  Administer and allocate expenditures for serials and electronic resources in library management system.

  *  Manage troubleshooting and resolution of access issues, consulting and advising Library IT staff as appropriate.

  *  Manage subscription renewals and monitor vendors to ensure quality service and accurate pricing.

  *  Work with the Director of Collection and Resource Management to assess, implement, and manage vendor arrangements for the outsourcing and/or automation of departmental work as appropriate.

  *  Work with SBU Library senior leadership, consortia partners, and library/higher education organizations to identify opportunities for improvement in Libraries/ discovery and delivery operations and services.

  *  Work with Director of Collection and Resource Management and Libraries leadership to develop and implement University Libraries strategic priorities and provide the infrastructure needed to achieve those priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) was created as a natural expansion of City College’s Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education program and it is continuing its 40 year mission of recruiting underrepresented minorities into medicine, increasing medical care in historically underserved communities, and boosting the number of primary care physicians. This is an exciting development for students as they are now able to complete in 7 years a B.S. degree at the Sophie Davis Undergraduate Program in Biomedical Education, followed by an M.D. degree at the CUNY School of Medicine. The first class of medical students began on August 15, 2016. CSOM has obtained the provisional accreditation in 2018, and awaits the results of the full accreditation visit in October 2019.

The City College Library and CSOM invite applications for a 12-month tenure-track medical library faculty position at the Associate Professor or Full Professor Rank to develop library services to meet the mission and strategic plan of CSOM, including education, research, clinical care, and outreach. The experienced candidate is expected to integrate the library resources and services into the medical school curriculum. We are seeking a candidate who is able to provide exceptional research support and consultations, collaborate with teaching faculty on assignment and course content, and maintain effective collections in the health sciences disciplines. This position will require experience with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation standard for library services and resources.

This Medical Librarian reports to the Associate Dean and Chief Librarian of the City College of New York (CCNY) Library and works in close consultation with the Dean of CSOM for all programmatic issues, and will collaborate with our current Medical Librarian.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Serves as the head of the Medical Library, and is responsible for the direction and the administration of all medical library activities
  • Works with administrators and faculty in the School of Medicine to integrate library resources and services into the medical school curriculum to assure that the library collection, services and programs are meeting the needs of faculty, staff and students.
  • Develops new services and supports the outreach programs to the affiliated clinical sites and hospitals
  • Provides course integrated instruction, orientation sessions, seminars, library sponsored workshops to support research and evidence-based practice

  • Conducts expert searches, including systematic and integrative reviews

Librarians support a college library through providing in-depth consultation with students and faculty and collaboration for the ongoing improvement of instructional programs and practices. Pursues an active scholarly agenda, performs supervisory duties, and participates in college-and university-wide programs and committees as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

All titles require a Master's in Library Science (MLS), Master's in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution. Also required is the ability to work with others for the good of the institution.

For appointment as Associate, or Full Professor, a second graduate degree is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five or more years of relevant job experience showing progressive growth in responsibilities in areas relevant to an academic medical library with three years in a supervisory position
  • Excellent organizational skills, and effectiveness in balancing multiple assignments and projects
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills, and excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with data collection, analysis and metrics reporting
  • Membership in the Medical Library Association’s Academy of Health Information Professionals
  • Experience assessing student learning and library instruction
  • Fluency with emerging library technology and trends, which may include areas of scholarly communication
  • Experience with library marketing and outreach programming
  • Familiarity with Web accessibility standards
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and Web scripting language to customize the medical library website
  • Grant writing experience

P/T - Reference Librarian, Elmont Lib (NY)

Part-Time Reference Librarian Position, Elmont Public Library

We are seeking a dynamic, friendly and creative librarians
to join our team! Candidates will be required to work 18 ½ hours per week. Schedule will include day, evening, and weekend hours.



Responsibilities:


 Provide assistance to patrons at the adult services desk with reference and reader’s advisory services through print and electronic sources.
 Assist patrons with the use of electronic sources as well as digital devices.
 Assist with collection development.
 Plan and conduct book discussions and assist with other library programming.
 Provide excellent customer service to our patrons.
 Other projects as assigned.


Qualifications:


 MLS Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution.
 Library experience working in adult services is preferred.
 Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to form effective working relationships with staff and the public.
 Must be a Nassau County resident.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
 Excellent computer and organizational skills as related to library and library services.
 Comprehensive knowledge of databases and effective online searching.
 Knowledge of Sierra and Encore.
 Familiarity with Google Apps.
 Excels at providing great customer service in a fast-paced environment.
 Is energetic, motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible.
 Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
 Strong technology skills including new and emerging technologies.
 

Hourly Wage:
 $26.00/hour
 Sundays are paid at the rate of time and a half.
