Researcher – Energy Practice – Knowledge Services Department – Oliver Wyman Group – NY

We are seeking a Researcher supporting the Energy Practice of the MTE (Manufacturing, Transportation and Energy) Practice Group.

Role Description
  • Primary role is to provide the Energy Practice with quality research to support client and business development initiatives
  • Researcher will primarily conduct research on topics related to the energy/commodities sector with the aim of building deep content specialism
  • Work with a wide range of information tools to provide research to consultant teams in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Ability to synthesize information and glean key concepts and trends from the information
  • Work with Knowledge Services colleagues globally sharing work and expertise. This would include leveraging the Knowledge Management team to provide joint solutions on projects.
  • Provide both quick solutions and in-depth research for the business
  • Assist in the education and training of the consulting staff on research tools
  • Provide backup research coverage across aviation, automotive, surface transportation and manufacturing sectors
Qualifications
  • Graduate with demonstrated business/industry research experience working in a business or academic setting
  • Master of Library Science degree a plus
  • Good knowledge required of Factiva and Bloomberg.
  • Knowledge of the Energy and Commodity businesses
  • Team player who enjoys working as part of a global team.
  • Ability to juggle several tasks at once and to prioritise and manage own time.
  • Flexible attitude, hard-working
  • Ability to summarize research and draw out key insights
  • Inquisitive by nature – enjoys investigation
  • An eye for detail and accuracy
  • High commitment to client service
  • Strong IT skills – proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficiency with specialized research tools desirable
  • A desire to work for a leading professional services firm
