Business Process Analyst, Scientific Information/Knowledge Management, Novartis – NJ
The Novartis Knowledge Center (NKC) supports the global Novartis user community’s business processes by identifying, acquiring, and providing fast and easy access to high value external Scientific Technical, Medical (STM) and Business News information resources.
We are recruiting for an independent degree-level educated Business Process Analyst/ Scientific Information Specialist with strong work experience in a corporate environment to play an active role in the NKC eLibrary content & application management team and support the NKC Products & Services with application development and maintenance.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of new information products and services in collaboration with users in chemistry, biology or medical disciplines.
Main accountabilities include:
• Project management, system maintenance and staff support for Automated Literature Ordering System ALOS (Document Service system, internal development)
• Coordinate with external developer on further ALOS enhancements, interfaces with Link Resolver and upcoming Integrated Library System (SFX/ALMA) and external Document delivery suppliers
• Troubleshooting of linking problems with SFX (Link Resolver) Knowledge Base (KB) and maintenance of SFX KB content with focus on Open Access sources and PPV content
• Manage development and implementation of new information products and services in chemistry, biology or medical disciplines
• Contribute and lead Knowledge management initiatives to introduce/integrate text analytics and text mining solutions into our library environment to improve information consumption and sharing
Minimum requirements:
• Scientific education in biology, pharmacy and/or medicine or information technology in addition to an information related degree (MLS, Postgraduate in Information Science)
• Several years of work experience in a corporate (pharmaceutical, technical or medical) Information Center with focus on independently leading projects
• Excellent information science and technology skills
• Strong knowledge / experience with Link Resolver technologies, content management with Integrated Library Systems and Document delivery
• Solid expertise and practical experience in text analytics and the implementation of Taxonomies, Ontologies, Metadata and Semantic Indexing
• Leadership and project management skills in solving specific project/technical problems and initiate development of new information products and services in chemistry, biology or medical disciplines
• Analytical skills, good understanding of data modelling concepts
• Proven talent to work independently and excellent interpersonal and communication skills including ability to work with interdisciplinary, global teams
• English written and spoken, additional languages advantageous
