F/T - Program Director, Bryant Library (NY)

The Bryant Library in Roslyn, NY on Long Island is seeking a Program Director.


 
 
PUBLIC RELATIONS/PROGRAMMING DEPARTMENT

PURPOSE: Seeking an assertive, high-energy, detailed-oriented person for key full-time position.

This is a managerial confidential position that reports to the Library Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the Director and Department Heads to develop marketing strategies to bring patrons into the library. Consult and advise on special projects to the Director and Board of Trustees



 Cultivate partnerships with local businesses and community groups. Maintain high visibility with patrons and staff.

 Plan adult programs while working within the parameters of a adult programming budget.

 Prepare publicity for library programs and services. Send press releases to local media outlets about upcoming programs and events. Maintain master event calendar utilizing Event Keeper.

 Maintain statistics of library programs and community groups utilizing library meeting spaces.

 Attend and speak at community events pertaining to library programs and services.

 Create copy and work with the graphic designer to edit, write and design a bi-monthly newsletter.

 Implement a social media strategy and follow social media trends and popular culture.

 Act as a liaison with Friends of Bryant Library, Roslyn Adult Education and other community boards.

 Act as liaison with varoius library groups within NLS or SCLS.

 Curate art shows in meeting space and smaller display cases.

 Seek grants and other funding sources, including NYS Construction grants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

College graduate; MLS preferred but not required



 Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; samples of published pieces required.

 Superior public speaking and interpersonal skills.

 Knowledge of library operations and understanding of community needs.

 Excellent organizational, scheduling and planning skills. Attention to details is required.

 Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Products is essential.

STARTING SALARY: $65,000



This is not a Civil Service position. The Library is a member of the New York State Retirement System.
