P/T Library Services Manager (DTI) (NJ)
DTI is seeking a part-time Library Services Manager to work on-site with its law firm client in Newark, NJ. This position will require about 25-35 hours a week. Ideal applicants will have extensive experience in legal research, due diligence research into risk and fraud, potential conflicts of interest issues.
This person will need the following skills:
- Supervise and manage the physical library
- Filing and manage the library inventory
- Handle research questions and research requests with overflow going to our Atlanta OnDemand team
- Work with research database providers and negotiate rates
- Understanding of litigation support process and ability to take in work requests from attorneys and firm professionals and liaise with outside vendors to get work completed
- Strong communication skills – to liaise with attorneys and other firm professionals
- Analytical skills to analyze each request and identify the best research resources for timely and cost-effective process and resolution.
- Organization, project management and planning skills to prioritize competing assignments, work within recognized budgetary constraints and consistently meet tight deadlines. Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Mental stamina and demeanor to perform complex analysis while under exacting professional and legal standards.
- Excellent written, oral and email communication skills with the ability to synthesize and distill information from diverse sources and package in a comprehensive format.
- Customer focused, vigilant, detail oriented.
- Ability to manage , train and lead teams
- Responsibilities:
- Establish best practices for conflicts and due diligence searches.
- Serve as the central point of contact and primary resource to various departments on due and due diligence research methods.
- Works with the Conflicts/Due Diligence team to provide functional input on issues troubleshooting, implementation of investigative techniques, and develop training documentation for Researchers/Analysts.
- Manages the research team: provide direct reports and ongoing feedback on investigative research performance. Train Researchers/Analysts in all investigative research techniques to achieve client goals. Conducts quality control on all deliverables.
- Performs conflict of interest searches for clients, matters, and/or other new business reviews requested. Reviews and analyzes conflict of interest reports to evaluate unnecessary hits, identify potential conflict problems and facilitate resolution of potential conflicts problems for lawyers firm-wide.
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
- A Juris Doctorate degree and/ or degree in library research
- Minimum 5 years of legal research and practice experience.
- Experience and proficiency with a wide variety of print and electronic research due diligence databases normally used in a law firms. For example: Westlaw, LexisNexis, Fast case, Versus Law, D&B, Lois Law etc.
- Excellent knowledge Microsoft Office Suite
