Position Summary: 
Under moderate supervision and with considerable latitude for independent judgment oversees the cataloging and metadata needs of the Visual Resources and Multi-Media Services Departments and participates in the acquisition and maintenance of the teaching and archive collections, including digital images, videos, 16mm films, slides, pictures/clippings, bookplates, photographs, and prints.

Position Duties:
-         Oversee and perform cataloging of digital images, videos, and films.
-         Work with the Visual Resources Curator in setting metadata standards and maintaining cataloging guidelines for digital images, videos, and films.
-         Maintain knowledge of and provide guidance on the use of various established and evolving metadata schemas for digital image and video collections.
-         Work with the Visual Resources Curator to improve access to digital images, videos, and films.
-         Develop and participate in metadata cleanup and migration projects.
-         Participate in collection development projects.
-         Participate in video and image acquisition workflows.
-         Participate in the hiring, training and scheduling of graduate assistants and student workers.
-         Perform all other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to staffing public service points, assisting patrons with scanning, and answering questions about ARTstor.

Experience and Qualifications: 
Education: Must have MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution, BA or minor in an arts-related field preferred.  
Experience: Must have at least two years’ experience in (i) cataloging or metadata management in a library, museum, or archive setting and (ii) handling rare or fragile materials, such as slides, photographs, and film.  Experience managing people and projects preferred.
Skills: Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills, in addition to being highly organized and able to work as part of a team. Must have demonstrated expertise using Excel and database environments (e.g. Millennium, FileMaker Pro, and Shared Shelf) and applying content standards (e.g. AACR2 and CCO) and authorities (e.g. Getty, LCSH, and LCNAF).  Knowledge of digital and video image files and formats preferred.
Salary: Low to Mid 40's plus excellent benefits package
