Brooklyn Public Library,
the nation’s 5th largest public library system with a network of 60

Under the direction of the Vice President of
Strategic Planning, the Project Manager of Strategic Initiatives will play a
crucial role in the development and implementation of Brooklyn Public Library’s
strategic plan.
This position will take an active role in all
aspects of Strategic Planning. S/he will work closely with other department
members and division personnel on data collection, business analysis, framing
hypotheses, developing tactical and strategic insight, developing and delivering
recommendations to BPL management, and often implementing recommendations. The
Project Manager for Strategic Initiative will focus on the library’s
relationship with DOE and education-related initiatives. Project management
skills for complex initiatives required. This is a temporary, two-year, grant
funded position through 2014.
Duties &
Responsibilities:

Oversee implementation
schedules for institution-wide strategic initiatives.
·
Work closely with
managers to identify, clarify, and resolve complex issues critical to success
by developing insights, conducting analysis, and meeting with staff throughout
the library to assure initiative progress.
·
Troubleshoot
wide-ranging issues, identifying and mitigating risks, and helping to ensure
key strategic initiatives are achieved on-time and on-budget.
·
Develop conclusions and
recommendations, writing reports, and assisting or delivering Senior Management
presentations.
·
Lead and assist on
various special projects as needed.
·
Work closely with the
Web Applications and Enterprise Applications departments, product manage the
implementation of the BiblioCommons online catalog, including the
implementation of BiblioCommons as part of a new partnership with the New York
City Department of Education.
·
Act as lead manager for
the Department of Education union catalog pilot, particularly focusing on the
delivery of core services to the participating schools during the pilot year.
·
Managing and developing
other strategic projects as directed.
Skills &
Qualifications:

Minimum B.A. in relevant
subject area; Masters Degree preferred
·
Minimum 3 years relevant
project management experience
