Position Summary
The Collections Information Associate (CIA) is responsible for managing information in the centralized Museum repositories (Collections Information Management System (Gallery System’s The Museum System (TMS)) and Digital Asset Management System (Extensis Portfolio). The CIA implements and utilizes best practices in the cataloguing of works of art and digital assets, collaborating with curators to provide image and information needs for exhibition and publications planning. As part of the Museum’s Information & Technology department and reporting to the Manager of Collections Information (MCI), the CIA participates in establishing data standards, training and supporting users and in researching, planning and implementing the Museum’s asset management and collections access strategies.The Museum

Essential Qualifications
Position Requires:The Collections Information Associate position requires extensive knowledge of and experience managing collection and digital asset data. Expertise in data standards, technical writing, SQL Server, and XML are required. Broad knowledge of digital technologies, standards, issues, and trends relating to collections cataloguing and digital asset management is necessary. An Art History background is preferred. The ability to work effectively in a team context, establish priorities, achieve goals, and support multi-faceted projects and the ability to work autonomously and make critical independent decisions is required.
-A minimum of 2 years experience in Museum Cataloguing
-2 years experience in Digital Asset Management
-Photoshop
- SQL Server, XML, Crystal Reports, Basic HTML, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access are required
-Bachelor’s Degree
The Final candidate must successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
The CIA must show initiative developing expertise on new software, information delivery methods and technologies and have strong oral, written, and presentation skills. Additional duties are performed as necessary. The CIA must also show initiative developing expertise on new software, information delivery methods and technologies, have strong oral, written, and presentation skills, and work well in a team environment.
