Job
Description
Reports to the Library Access Services Supervisor I.
Provides circulation and information services at the Douglass Library
and Chang Science Library and through the Ask a Librarian email service.
Coordinates resource sharing services at Douglass and Chang libraries.
Processes requests for materials, scans and ships items. Coordinates
collection management activities at Chang and serves as a backup at
Douglass Library. Re-shelves items accurately, reports materials in poor
condition, and shifts materials on the shelves to provide for space and
improve accessibility. Assists with the course reserve service at
Chang. Contributes to the development of systemwide access services
through participation in access services working groups and by
participating in departmentwide projects. Performs basic problem solving
regarding user and check-out records and applies fines and fees.
Reports to management statistics on users, collections, and services.

Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field or an
equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates
general knowledge and understanding of basic library science/library
operations. Also requires excellent communication skills and computer
literacy. Must be able to work independently. Requires ability to lift
and carry books and packages weighing no more than 50 lbs. Two years of
library experience and familiarity with the Rutgers University Libraries
and the Library Catalog are preferred. Familiarity with scanning
hardware and software, including Adobe Acrobat and knowledge of the
Library of Congress classification system is highly desirable.
