Responsibilities 
Guided by department objectives and priorities, works as part of a firmwide team to provide substantive, senior research expertise for client work and business development efforts. Demonstrates strong skills and background in corporate, securities, and business intelligence research. Ensures client service and satisfaction are attained in all areas of the position. 
 

Essential Functions 
Departmental Client Service and Leadership
1. Ensure exemplary client service to all internal and external clients; consistently promote and model the Firm’s Client Services Principles in leadership, work product, and personal interaction. 
2. Promote client service throughout department; work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure client service is accomplished individually and through teamwork.


Professional Expertise
1. As part of a firmwide research team, provide senior level research expertise to support the firm’s practice areas. Demonstrate strong skills in corporate and securities research, especially for the financial markets, private equity, and related practice areas.
2. Provide advanced market and business intelligence research, synthesis, and analysis to support the business development efforts of the firm.
3. Demonstrate strong writing skills and the ability to distill and present research work product in a concise, professional manner.
4. Proactively and independently assess research requests and ensure that research meets stated and anticipated needs.
5. Ensure that library services are effectively promoted to attorneys and timekeepers.
6. Assess information needs of practice groups and proactively recommend resources and solutions to practice group needs.
7. Educate and advise attorneys and paralegals on sources and strategies for research.
8. Provide guidance in collection development and maintenance and library space utilization.
9. Demonstrate project management skills as a part of a larger team. Participate in projects that increase the value of library services to clients, timekeepers, and the Firm.
10. Track and record billable and non-billable time spent providing research services to library clients according to the Firm’s library billing policy.

1. Remain current in industry trends in library services, practice group resources, and the legal profession.
2. Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.

Confidentiality
Ensure compliance with the Firm's Confidentiality Policy, including safeguarding confidential and personal information, and reporting any suspected breach appropriately and immediately.

Safety Practices
Adhere to the Firm’s General Safety Practices and any unique safety practices for department and building.

Qualifications 
Education and Experience

1. Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science or equivalent degree strongly preferred plus a minimum of 3 years related experience, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
2. In-depth knowledge of the legal materials and databases used to support the Firm’s practice areas and research needs for client work and for business development efforts.
