Technical Services Librarian
Horsham Township Library, Horsham, PA (Philadelphia suburbs), a department of Horsham Township, is
recruiting a librarian to catalog and oversee technical processing.
Tasks include creating database records for library print and
audio-visual materials, processing/overseeing the processing of print
and audio-visual materials purchased and/or added to the collection
through donations. The position includes some reference and reader’s
advisory work during evening and weekend hours in rotation with other
full-time staff.
Horsham Township Library serves 25,000 residents of
Horsham Township, located 12 miles northeast of Philadelphia, and is a
member of MCLINC (Montgomery County Library & Information Network
Consortium) a 16-library resource-sharing consortium.
Requirements:
Applicants must
possess a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an institution
accredited by either the American Library Association or the
Pennsylvania Dept. of Education.
Skills:
Applicants should possess thorough
knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures and techniques of
library science, library cataloging and classification, the current
edition of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules and MARC21. Applicants
should possess sufficient familiarity with Resource Description and
Access, the new standard for resource description to replace AACR2, to
be ready to implement these standards in 2012-2013.
In addition, the successful applicant must complete cataloging
certification by the MCLINC Database Committee within six months of
hire.

Salary range: $39,500 to 43,500 depending upon qualifications and experience.
