F/T - Specialist, Global Knowledge Ctr, Celgene (NJ)

Specialist, Global Knowledge Center, Medical Affairs, Celgene – NJ

Celgene is seeking a Specialist for its Global Knowledge Center to assume lead role in identifying, retrieving and disseminating published literature relevant to Celgene. Responsible for in-depth literature searches across functions. Participates in cross-functional initiatives such as Global Drug Safety and Risk Management literature searches/alerts, as appropriate. Subject Matter Expert on complex literature search strategies, enabling creation of comprehensive, yet focused, databanks to answer specific queries on Celgene projects

Core Responsibilities:

1. Creates and maintains publication alerts for Celgene portfolio; identifies newly published primary data for Celgene products, and other literature of relevance to Celgene. Works with team to obtain pertinent data and distributes articles in compliance with internal policies
2. OurCelgene Ambassador for Medical Affairs Portal to manage the visible data around area of expertise
3. Maintains summary of new publications through Citation & Publication Updates; disseminates Citation & Publication updates globally
4. Evaluates publications to identify those of critical interest to Medical Affairs for posting to the Medical Affairs Portal in real time
5. Creates centrally-accessible data libraries of key therapeutic (e.g. myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes) and Celgene product literature
6. Liaises with Medical Affairs therapeutic teams to pro-actively initiate and promote published data libraries, alerts and updates
7. Liaises with other teams (e.g. rest of world, Medical Affairs and clinical teams) to establish data libraries, alerts and updates
8. Maintains extensive knowledge of literature sources and databases in order to access appropriate information for wide range of searches
9. Analyses and appropriately synthesizes data from literature searches and major congresses for internal use
10. Primary contact for various global business partners, including Global Drug Safety and Risk Management (GDSRM), to develop and maintain specialized literature searches and alerts
11. Trains and assists new users with Ovid and other databases and literature resources
12. Mentors and educates peers in literature search strategies in order to enhancing expertise of team

Other Responsibilities

Conducts business in accordance with Celgene Values. Completes all assigned SOPs and training within designated timeframe and adheres to job-specific SOPs and work instructions
1. Conducts/assists with the training of new employees specific to database and area of focus
2. Attends external meetings and educational seminars to enhance therapeutic area knowledge and broaden pharmaceutical industry experience.

Qualifications
Health Sciences background required, Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of health information/library experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry required.
Relevant therapeutic background and literature database expertise desired.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
• Must be a team player and be willing to work in an environment where individual initiative and accountability to the team are required.
• Must be able to work with limited day-to-day supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Flexible, with positive attitude, strong ability to multi task and prioritize projects effectively
• Strong PC experience and Microsoft Word experience required
• Strong Microsoft office applications, Excel, and PowerPoint skills desirable
• Some travel required to represent company at various conferences/other meetings
