Discovery Service Relations Manager, IEEE – NJ
Essential Functions:
• Develop and manage effective working relationships with relevant functional contacts at Discovery Service vendors to ensure ongoing accuracy, completeness, and currency of IEEE content in Discovery Service indices.
• Partner with IEEE content and technical teams to ensure proper functioning of IEEE content feeds and their indexing in Discovery databases.
• In collaboration with IEEE Client Services and/or Sales teams, conduct periodic checks of customers’ discovery service implementations to ensure optimal visibility and findability of IEEE content.
• Develop and manage information resources and tools to help IEEE customers optimize their discovery service implementations.
• Liase with customers, industry groups, technical teams, and other 3rd parties on configuration and implementation of persistent links, OpenURL links and link resolvers in order to maximize successful resolution of IEEE content links to IEEE Xplore.
• Champion activities and processes to capture, track and report on IEEE activity statistics for Discovery Services and Link Resolvers
• Serve as internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Discovery Services and Link Resolvers; monitor and participate in relevant industry standards and content provider advocacy activities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline and/or equivalent business experience. Advanced degree in Information Science such as MLS or MLIS would be a plus.
• At least 7 years of experience with library search systems, indexing and records retrieval.
Skills & Other Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of search engine technologies, search ranking algorithms, search tuning and optimization techniques.
• Aware of issues surrounding scholarly communication
• Hands-on experience managing, implementing, supporting and using one or more web-scale discovery solutions such as EDS, Summon, Primo, WorldCat Local.
• Experience with electronic resource management (ERM) tools such as EzProxy, OpenURL resolvers, SFX, etc.
• Familiarity with academic and scholarly digital library applications, platforms, practices and standards.
• A technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to solve business challenges.
