Knowledge Management Associate Specialist, Merck – PA
The Knowledge Management Associate Specialist, MMD Knowledge Management (KM) CoE, will promote knowledge capture, seeking, sharing and leveraging throughout the organization’s operational business processes and systems. A seamless exchange of information will be accomplished by embedding knowledge flow in business processes through holistic solutions and capabilities that address people, process, content, and technology needs. The KM Associate Specialist plays a vital role in the successful definition, installation, sustainment and realization MMD KM Capabilities in the flow of business across MMD.
Key Responsibilities
· Support the design, implementation and sustainment of core knowledge management approaches used to support critical knowledge flow within and across the business and knowledge domains
· Promote knowledge management approaches that use collaborative tools to facilitate sharing of ideas, practices, and lessons learned
· Monitors, and maintains the use and improvement of common knowledge management processes and approaches across the organization
· Monitor and report progress of KM projects to the Knowledge Management Leader
· Monitor the effectiveness, maintenance, and use of the IT tools and systems as they apply to KM, and implement improvements.
· Help disseminate information about the organization’s knowledge management program to internal audiences, including participation in knowledge-sharing events (such as knowledge fairs, site visits, interviews), maintaining communications on knowledge sharing across the organization, participation in orientation and training sessions, and preparation of marketing materials/presentations.
Qualifications
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree required. Degree field in Engineering, Chemistry, Natural Sciences, Applied Sciences or Pharmaceutical Sciences preferred
Experience and Skills:
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in one or more of the following: pharmaceutical/biotech industry, GMP manufacturing, Technical Operations, Process Development, Product Lifecycle Project Management within an FDA regulated organization, Regulatory Agency focusing on Pharmaceuticals/Biologics, and/or Knowledge Management function within an FDA regulated organization required.
Required
· Aware of technology/social tools that supports knowledge management
· Some experience with group facilitation
· Experience in lean six sigma/MPS (certification preferred)
· Works effectively as a team member and strong communication skills including presentations
· Good appreciation of customer needs, at both operational and strategic levels
· Ability to travel domestically and internationally if necessary
Desired
An understanding of the principles of knowledge management
· Experience in some facet of Knowledge Management preferential, such as:
o Virtual Collaboration Networks & communities of practice
o Library science, taxonomies and content management
· Project management experience
· Experience as an agent of change or communications
· Awareness of culture, behavior, business processes, and tools
· Good business analysis skills to build business cases, realization plans for business cases, ask probative questions to identify business requirements
This position notes location as West Point, PA however location could also be Whitehouse Station West.
