P/T - Ref/Instruction Librarian, Stony Brook U (NY)

Reference/Instruction Librarian Adjunct Position -- January through March, 2016


Position Description and duties:

Library reference and instruction services during days, evenings and weekends. May also include collection development. Monday - Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Hours may vary. 15-23 hours/week.


Master of Library Science degree or equivalent library degree from an accredited college or university required.


Experience providing library instruction for a variety of disciplines. Experience with LibGuides preferred. Experience providing reference service in an academic library.  Knowledge of databases, for example, EBSCOhost, JSTOR, LexisNexis.  Based on the librarian's experience and the needs of the library, incumbent will also be assigned additional library responsibilities.


Duties:

  *  Works Monday-Friday and occasional evening and weekend hours, 15-23 hours/week.

  *  Participates in library instruction as assigned.

  *  Provides reference service at Main Reference Desk.

  *  Provides general help and reference assistance via phone, e-mail, instant messaging and other virtual reference services.

  *  Provides in-depth research consultations.

  *  May include collection development work.

  *  Assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
