Position: Corporate Library Specialist (2 available positions – different hours)
Company: Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP
Hours: 10:30am – 6:30pm AND 1:00pm – 9:00pm
Job Description:
The Corporate Library Specialist provides corporate library assistance to attorneys, legal assistants and support staff by taking requests and retrieving information from various files, databases, online sources and outside services. This position handles information requests using print and online sources and corporate document searches in-house and with outside services; accesses various databases for information; inputs record of tasks and time into time records system on a weekly basis; demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others; manages Firm resources responsibly; complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures and performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science or the equivalent in experience
  • Minimum of two years related experience
  • Knowledge of securities industry and securities quotations
  • Ability to use computer database systems including but not limited to Bloomberg Factset, Intelligize, Securities Mosaic, S&P Capital IQ, Thomson One and Westlaw Business
  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
  • Ability to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgment
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs
