University Librarian, Monmouth Univ – NJ
Monmouth University is seeking applications for University Librarian. This position reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and has an anticipated start date of January 4, 2016.
The ideal candidate will have five years progressively responsible experience managing operations in a library environment, preferably in an academic library. She/he will be able to develop strong relationships with faculty, students, administrators and staff while fostering professionalism, diversity and a positive working and learning environment in the University Library. He/she will provide strategic leadership for all functions of the library in collaboration with other academic units and in support of the University’s Strategic Plan.
Requirements:
ALA-accredited Master of Library Science (MLS) degree in Library/Information Science or an advanced degree with relevant experience and continuing education.
Five years of progressively responsible experience managing operations in a library environment.
Experience in strategic planning, budget management, and introducing and managing change.
Excellent team-building skills, a participative management style and demonstrated success in a variety of organization-wide collaborations in support of shared governance.
Proven record in developing and managing digital library initiatives, as well as in promoting innovative library information technologies and their applications to both library and educational functions and services.
Expertise in library collections development and management to support the research activity and curricular initiatives of a private, midsized, comprehensive university.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in a relevant field. Experience in fundraising and grant solicitation for library initiatives. Active participation in local, state and/or national library organizations.
Experience in a collective bargaining environment. Experience in an academic library.
