Librarian, SAE Institute of Technology – NY

SAE Inst of Technology seeks a  Librarian who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the campus Learning Resource Center (LRC). The candidate must be familiar with electronic resources, be skilled in responding to reference/research questions, be skilled in electronic database searching, and be able to provide virtual library services. This position will provide bibliographic instruction students, faculty, and staff and will assist patrons in locating information and using it proficiently to meet professional and personal needs.

Essential duties and accountabilities:
• Develop and maintain a library acquisitions plan utilizing recommendations from students, faculty
• Set and administer library budget, with approval from the Campus Director
• Negotiate contracts for library services, equipment, and materials
• Support and complement the schools’ curriculum through the evaluation, review, recommendation, acquisition, and weeding of library materials, including print, electronic, and multimedia items
• Contribute to the content and maintenance of the LRC website
• Provide bibliographic instruction for patrons
• Supervise, train, and evaluate LRC assistants and other LRC workers
• Participate in continuing education activities
• Maintain proper records of all library activities
• Provide appropriate documentation for accrediting and other outside agency reports, and meet with evaluation teams as required during onsite visits
• Participate in faculty and staff meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
• A degree in Library Science or a related topic from an accredited college or university
• At least 4 years of experience in an academic library environment or academic administration
• Possesses knowledge of library computer services, Internet, electronic resources, and Microsoft Office Suite for MAC
• Works independently, efficiently, and effectively without direct supervision
• Ability to lead
• Capacity to be a self-starter
• Demonstrable organizational and time management skills – ability to multi-task
• Ability to achieve success individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Possesses excellent verbal communication skills, presentation skills, and good written communication skills
• Persistence combined with a positive attitude and approach to work and others – self-motivating work style
• Mature, positive and collaborative interpersonal skills
• Superior research and analytical skills

• Great problem solving and process improvement abilities
• Ability to meet tight deadlines working with team members outside of Admissions

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A.


Physical Demands:
Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the organization, minimal reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
