P/T - Instructional Tech Librarian, Louis Bay Library (NJ)

(PT) Instructional Tech. Librarian, Louis Bay 2nd Library and Comm. Center – NJ

 
Louis Bay 2nd Public Library and Community Center seeks a part-time Instructional Technology Librarian. This position is located in Hawthorne, NJ and application deadline is April 18, 2014.

Duties:
  • Providing reference and reader’s advisory services to adults
  • Training staff and/or public to use electronic resources
  • Assisting the public with internet, email, and Office applications
  • Work with the Head of Readers Services and Community Center Coordinator to plan, promote, and implement programs to enhance technical and information literacy, either in a one-on-one or group setting utilizing the Lab PCs for scheduled workshops
  • Plan and coordinate special events to promote technical services and instruction for community groups and various organizations
  • Utilize a variety of applications to support the Library’s marketing efforts, social media and web presence
  • Updates and creates content for Library website with information provided
  • Assist in investigating new hardware and software needed to deliver services or further the Library’s mission and goals
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Department Head and/or Director
Requirements:
  • MLS (ALA accredited program desirable), minimum one year professional library experience (full-time equivalent / post MLS)
  • Able to implement library services in an automated environment
  • Knowledge of print and non-print reference and readers advisory resources as well as changes in technology and trends within the library profession
  • Able to establish a rapport with a diverse community of adults
  • Able to communicate effectively in written and oral form, meet deadlines, and work with patrons, staff, and others in a tactful and consistent manner
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in web content management systems, use of social media platforms, and networking sites
Reports to: Head of Readers Services
Hours: Average 12 hours per week, includes every other Saturday, evenings, and afternoons
Hourly Rate: $18.00 / hour
