Head Librarian, The Center for Fiction – NY
The Center for Fiction seeks a Head Librarian to oversee all library functions for 150,000 fiction centered collection and manage small related bookshop. This position is located in NYC.
Ideal for the librarian who wants to get to know and recommend books to a core group of readers and writers who appreciate literature, reading, and writing. The librarian will also oversee preparation of the collection for move to new building in 2017 and will hire and supervise library interns and part-time library staff. Day-to-day duties include circulation activities, book acquisition, cataloging, donations processing, and maintenance of the collection.
Strong organizational skills, an MLS/MLIS, at least two years experience in a leadership position, and reader advisory experience with focus on literary fiction and mystery & suspense are a must. No weekends or evenings required. May 15 start date. Salary is $55,000+ based on experience, with excellent benefits package.
