Director of Library Services, NJ City Univ. – NJ
New Jersey City University invites applications for the Director of Library Services to organize, plan, and direct library activities. The library is a dynamic physical and virtual place, a center of resources for discipline-specific and inter-disciplinary services. The position begins September 1, 2105.
Candidates should have experience in leadership in library services, demonstrate visionary and strategic thinking and be well-versed in media services critical to informational literacy. Must be able to supervise staff and work operations and evaluate goals, procedures, and policies. Must be able to set fiscal priorities and identify critical resources for program expansion.
Candidates should be able to network with programs and departments, leverage existing resources, and collaboratively build library collections. Candidates should also be knowledgeable of copyright law and should be well-versed in research methodologies and materials related to particular subject domains. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.
Applicants should have a Master’s Degree in Library Science or a related field. A minimum of five years professional library experience in an institution of higher education is expected.
