F/T - Database Mgr, World Sci Fest (NY)

Database Mgr., World Science Festival – NY

World Science Festival seeks a Database Manager to join our growing marketing team. This position is based in New York, NY.

The Database Manager will be charged with creating, maintaining, and mining a complex database of opt in subscribers, ticket buyers, donors, registrations, and others. He/she will take the current patchwork of disconnected data, work to fully understand the disparate needs of various department heads, and construct a smart, detailed, accessible, and taxonometrically precise database from which specific subsets of the overall list (e.g. “festival ticket purchasers who opened the email we sent them last month,” or “donors who have given $25 on at least two occasions,” etc.) can be extracted on behalf of various internal senior stakeholders. He/she will work with programs like PatronManager and MailChimp to construct and facilitate mail sends according to internal protocols and industry best practices.

The Database Manager will maintain and grow the database, once constructed, assuring data accuracy. He/she will also maintain optimization metrics around mailings, conduct A/B testing on mailings as required, evaluate outside lists for marketing value and make recommendations for improving performance across all e-channels. The position will report to the Marketing Director, with a dotted line to the Chief Technical Officer.

The Database Manager must be detail oriented, have strong analytic skills, and the demonstrated ability to understand the principles of eCRM and database taxonomy and construction, mastery over the relevant programs and skill sets described above, including Salesforce, our eCRM platform. He/she must work well with others in a fast-paced environment and understand how to achieve growth goals with an emphasis on list quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Make recommendations for improving performance across e-channels
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree.
  • Minimum 5 years post-collegiate experience in database Marketing.
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Proven ability to understand eCRM and database taxonomy
  • Experience with Mailchimp or equivalent required
  • Experience with Patron Manager or Salesforce extremely helpful
