Content Development Mgr., IEEE – NJ
Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for acquiring content and data
that can be delivered to IEEE’s global user community through the IEEE
Xplore and other IEEE platforms. Increasing the amount of relevant high
quality content in IEEE Xplore is critical to meet the changing needs
of a community that includes IEEE members, students, faculty,
researchers, scientists, librarians, administrators and others. This
high quality relevant content will increase IEEE Xplore usage and
session time, enhance discovery, enable users to find more relevant
information, and increase reliance on IEEE solutions and services. This
content will also play an important role in helping the IEEE meet the
changing information needs of a global user community and will make
significant contributions to new product and service offerings.
Partnerships will be profitable for both the partner and IEEE. The
Manager will be expected to create business cases and profit & loss
models that deliver acceptable profit margins and show how the
partnership will benefit the IEEE, users, and partners. Success in this
position will have a significant impact on IEEE customers and business,
measurable by increasing IEEE revenue, maintaining high renewal rates,
and maintaining high customer satisfaction ratings. Other
responsibilities include:
• Partner Relationships: Establish and
maintain relationships with existing and potential content
partners. Work with partners to identify opportunities to include
partner content in IEEE offerings. Maintain partnerships to meet the
IEEE and partner needs.
• Market Research: Evaluate new business
ideas with internal and external stakeholders. Work with stakeholders
to conduct market research to support ideas and business plans.
• Business Plan Development: Coordinate
input from stakeholders on product attributes – contractual, pricing,
marketing, support, etc. – that will help determine if the product meets
IEEE business and product portfolio requirements.
• Product Management: Present business
case and financials to appropriate internal committees and decision
makers for approval. Work with internal and external stakeholders to set
product and launch expectations.
• Partner & Customer Satisfaction: Monitor
product metrics – sales, usage, customer satisfaction, etc. to ensure
product continues to meet objectives and requirements.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with an STM publisher
• Understanding of STM publishing industry – customers, current issues, production, trends and changes
• Excellent communication, reporting and analytical skills
• Ability to negotiate and manage profitability of relationships
• Ability to work in a multi-dimensional organization driven by diverse views and needs
