Freelance Materials Resource Librarian, Visual Graphic Systems – NJ


Visual Graphic Systems, located in Carlstadt, NJ, seeks a Materials Resource Librarian. This is a solo freelance librarian position.



The Materials resource Librarian is responsible for the display and creation of an Architectural/Interiors resource library and maintaining, organizing and cataloging the library. +/-20 hours of freelance work required.
  • Create content management. Manage firm’s resource library. Order and research of pertinent design resources. Set up and coordinate creation of library. Updating and maintaining all product samples and literature. Catalog books, binders and samples using the typical Architectural system.
  • Samples sourced, furniture and materials specifications written and tracked.
  • Vendor presentations scheduled and consultants/representatives contacted and relationships established.
  • Educating design staff on latest materials trends and any new samples.
  • Oversees the purchase and cataloging of resource publications and subscribes to pertinent magazines/periodicals based on established budget.
  • Maintains a physical and virtual library
Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Interiors materials.
  • Knowledge of library procedures, practice and cataloging.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and ability to create, organize and file materials & samples.
  • Utilize and search through catalogs and internet to find the latest cutting edge materials.
  • Experience with computers specifically, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong oral, inter-personal and written communications skills.
  • Experience working in an Architectural/Interiors firm.
  • Must have initiative and be able to work independently and also part of a team in a fast paced, time sensitive and multi-tasking studio environment.
  • Preferred BFA in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or related industry.
