Reference Librarian, Pace Univ – NY
Pace University is seeking a part-time Reference
Librarian to provide comprehensive reference, research, and referral
services in a dynamic, team-based, client-centered environment,
supported by advanced library technology; assist students and faculty in
identifying, locating, and interpreting sources of information
irrespective of format; provide individual or group consultation on a
drop-in basis or by appointment.
Perform all aspects of traditional and electronic reference services including shared reference desk coverage, electronic information retrieval, research consultation, virtual reference, collection development, bibliographic instruction, web page content development and design, faculty and departmental liaison duties, committee and task force assignments and occasional evening/weekend and special shifts (as needed and assigned).
Help provide and facilitate access to online resources such as the library catalog, online databases, internet resources, and fee-based information retrieval systems as well as newly emergent technologies for information access and delivery; assist patrons in formulating and executing appropriate search strategies for capturing, evaluating, applying, and processing information across disciplines.
Participate in the selection and deselection of library materials in its multiplicity of forms and formats including collection analysis and evaluation of the same; participate in the preparation of print, multimedia, web-based and online reference aids, research and subject resources guides including the attendant maintenance required to keep their online currency and accuracy (i.e., integrity of urls and hyperlinks).
Participate in the review of materials received as gifts or donations to determine need and relevance to the collection; be able to evaluate “largesse” materials offered by other libraries; coordinate with other research institutions and libraries to redistribute unwanted gift materials as appropriate.
Participate in reference department planning inclusive of operations, service delivery and outreach to local and remote users.
Perform any other duties as may be determined by the Head of Information Services and Resources/NYC or the Associate University Librarian/NYC.
20-25 hours/week between 9 am and 6 pm, may include evening and weekend hours.

Job Requirements
Education Required
MLIS, MSLIS, or equivalent. Experience providing reference service in
an academic library. Ability to work under pressure in a busy,
fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills.
