Secondary Research Manager
Ryan Partnership, Wilton, Connecticut
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
· Serves
as the main secondary research contact/support for Ryan Partnership’s
offices across the country including Wilton, Chicago, San Francisco,
Dallas, etc.
o This
involves fielding information/insight requests from Ryan employees (at
all levels of the organization) which are administered via email,
phone, as well as in-person
o Deliverables
not only involve summary reports, which must be well-organized and
concise in style, but also, presentation of the results in meetings
(when appropriate)
· Insight information is often focused on the consumer, shopper, industry, retailer, category, or brand information. It also involves market analyses and competitive intelligence
o It is used to inform brainstorms, new business pitches, and various types of marketing initiatives
o It
is accessed from the department’s syndicated/ secondary research
resources replete with Simmons, Mintel, Forrester, Iconoculture,
eMarketer, BIGInsight, Kantar Retail IQ, Path-to Purchase Institute,
Hoovers, Lexis Nexis, and Compete
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Acts as a liaison between research representatives and internal clientele (Ryan employees)
· Participates in internal brainstorms and focus-group facilitation (as needed)
· Tracks billable hours and projects in Advantage
· Visits Ryan offices as part of the Ryan Research and Insights “road show” to present the department’s capabilities and resources
Requirements:
· Superior time management and organization skills
o Must be able to work on multiple projects at once under narrow time constraints
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving and storytelling skills.
o Effectively uses numbers to gain understanding and/or illustrate a point
· Independent self-starter who is persistent, resourceful, and curious
· Strong interpersonal, written communication, and customer service skills
· Detail-oriented to ensure complete and accurate reporting
· Familiarity
with some or all of the above-indicated syndicated research sources or
experience with using similar types of resources
Qualifications:
· College graduate
· 3+ years’ experience in market research, marketing strategy, account planning, account management and/or journalism
· Prefer experience in digital/shopper/promo agency
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
