F/T - Library Relations - Practising Law Institute (NYC)



Practising Law Institute (PLI) is looking for a new member of its Library Relations team. We are looking for an outgoing and organized person whose primary job responsibilities will be related to the development of our eBook library (Discover PLUS).   

We are looking for an outgoing and organized person to be a part of the library relations team at the Practising Law Institute.  Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, continuing to develop PLI’s ebook library, training clients how to use our ebook library, client account maintence, and customer service to our library customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Training and instruction for PLI staff and for clients
  • Soliciting customer feedback and synthesizing the feedback for management and development team
  • Product testing
  • Documentation for Help Menus and Search Guides as well as detailed descriptive narratives for programmers and developers
  • Project management
  • Respond to telephone and written inquiries from internal and external customers
  • Attend trade shows as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Self-directed and capable of driving multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Instructional experience and presentation skills.
  • In-depth understanding of how to search subscription databases, preferably legal databases
  • Broad based knowledge and experience with legal information resources and legal technology applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Writing skills, especially technical writing
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service attitude.
  • Displayed project management skills.
  • High energy and an ability to interact positively and effectively with librarians.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MLS or comparable library experience or publishing experience
  • Experience developing online databases or related Business Development skills
  • Research experience, including working with legal databases such as Westlaw, Lexis, etc. Knowledge of online research
  • Law library experience
  • Knowledge of legal and publishing industry
