Job Description
New York University's Digital Studio is seeking a Technology Specialist to work in New York in a new and unusually dynamic environment, building the tools and services needed to meet the pedagogical and research requirements of NYU Abu Dhabi and the Global Network University. NYU Abu Dhabi, a Middle Eastern campus of NYU, is the first comprehensive liberal arts campus established abroad by a major U.S. research university. NYU as a Global Network University will require the creative development of electronic resources to link the campuses of NYU in Abu Dhabi and New York. The Technology Specialist for NYUAD will work with various NYU departments to building research, teaching, and learning tools, and supporting faculty to use them within this new global context. Key competencies for this position include client service, outreach to faculty, and project management. The ideal candidate will have a strong public service orientation, experience with IT in higher education, an understanding of the research process, experience providing instruction in the use of technology for research and learning, and project management experience. This position may require flexible work hours, including occasional weekend hours and early or late hours to accommodate Abu Dhabi time zone.

The Digital Studio Technology Specialist for NYUAD will report to the head of the Digital Studio, NYU's gateway to digital services supporting scholarship and teaching. This position will be based in New York, with possible opportunities for travel to Abu Dhabi. This is a 3-year position with the possibility for renewal.


Key Responsibilities:
The Digital Studio Technology Specialist for NYU Abu Dhabi will:
• Work collaboratively with staff in the Digital Studio, NYU Libraries, Digital Library Technology Services, ITS Faculty Technology Services, ITS Client Services, and NYUAD staff in New York and Abu Dhabi to support the academic technology needs of NYUAD scholars and staff;
• Consult with, support, and train faculty and staff associated with NYUAD (in person, email, phone, video conference, etc.);
• Provide project management for faculty-initiated projects and Library projects to create web-based methods for delivering library content remotely (including text, media, etc.);
• Build outreach and onboarding activities, advise and educate NYUAD faculty and scholars about available information technology resources and services for teaching and research across Libraries, NYU ITS, and NYU;

Other Responsibilities Include:
• Supervising the work of students and/or consultants working in the Digital Studio or on special IT projects, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance. Identify and prioritize staff assignments to ensure deadlines are met;
• Developing and delivering training programs including one-on-one instruction, seminars, training sessions, and workshops;


Required Experience
Required Qualifications:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; exceptional customer service; ability to learn about new information and scholarly communication technologies; understanding of the research process;
• Experience supporting information technology and training;
• Project management skills, including experience managing diverse teams, remotely and in matrix setting;
• Ability to work independently as well as in teams and to undertake responsibility in a quickly evolving technology and service environment;
• Ability to travel to Abu Dhabi as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree and experience in libraries or other learning and research-oriented organizations;
• Experience with communication technologies used in an educational setting, such as presentation systems, video conferencing, distance education technologies, Learning Management Systems, etc.
