Records Access Officer, New York City Economic Development Corporation Legal Department
Job Summary:
Primary responsibility for responding to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests for full service legal department of the City's primary economic development company.
Responsibilities:
· Serve as Records Access Officer
· Insure compliance with FOIL requirements
· Research projects to determine relevance to requests
· Collect documents from company staff, files, archives
· Review and redact documents
· Coordinate document production
· Prepare correspondence
· Monitor progress of requests
· Maintain records and databases
· Review current laws
· Assist FOIL Appeals Officer
Qualifications:
· College graduate with strong academic record preferred
· Interest in economic development
· 1 - 3 years of experience in FOIL and/or litigation matters preferred
· New York City residency required within 180 days of hire
About the Legal Department:
The Legal Department provides advice and representation on litigation, municipal bond financings, tax benefit agreements, real estate development activities (including land sales and leases), construction projects, FOIL and corporate matters, interacting with private companies, City, State and federal agencies and the Port Authority.
