Content Strategist , The College Board – NY
The College Board seeks a Content Strategist (two positions). These positions are based out of the New York City College Board office.
The Content Strategist is responsible for ensuring that digital content is user-centered and engaging, meets high quality standards, and furthers College Board’s mission. Reporting to the Director, Editorial Services, the Content Strategist is a direct contributor to the development of websites and other digital projects, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to conceptualize, develop, execute, and maintain digital content. This position is based out of the New York City College Board office.
Responsibilities include leading content efforts throughout the lifecycle of complex digital projects; helping to define and realize the vision and direction of the project, collaborating closely with project sponsors and others; delivering project briefs, content audits, and other content strategy tools; as well as drafting content, developmental editing, and content entry. S/he will work closely with product managers, sponsors, content producers, editors, user experience design (UXD), and information technology (IT) to conceptualize, develop, execute, and maintain content that is accurate and consistent in presentation and optimally stored within a content management system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with project sponsors to understand their needs and the needs of their users and to ensure both are met in digital products
- Guides the iterative copy development process through all stages, including sponsor reviews and editorial passes in response to feedback.
- Provides feedback on project plans, wireframes, requirements documents, and related artifacts in anticipation of content needs.
- Follows College Board’s editorial, accessibility, and other policies and guidelines related to digital content.
- Works with other content strategists as needed to ensure taxonomies, metadata structures, and content development workflows meet editorial needs.
- Collaborates with UXD and IT to determine, define, and document content types and content models that support publishing to Web, mobile, and tablet applications.
- Identifies opportunities where CMS enhancements can increase efficiency and effectiveness in content development and maintenance workflows and document those requirements for IT.
- Contributes to the creation of a taxonomy for College Board’s vast and complex digital content.
- Responsible for content entry, copyediting, and proofreading as needed.

Collaborates closely with user experience and technology practitioners, site managers, and product managers as well as service- and business-unit partners within the College Board, including legal, communications, and individual programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, Business, Library Sciences, Human Factors, Marketing, Instructional Design, or related field preferred
- 4+ years of experience in creating and managing evolving marketing and/or educational content for diverse audiences within a digital content management system
- Experience in education-related industries strongly preferred.
- Experience in crafting content through the synthesis of a variety of written sources and other inputs.
- Demonstrated project management and time management skills, including ability to accurately gauge project duration, manage expectations, deliver on deadlines, and handle conflicting priorities.
- Experience in Web content management systems, including experience, understanding of, and comfort with the technical and workflow issues surrounding large-scale digital content projects
- Experience in digital content management systems, including experience, understanding of, and comfort with, the technical and workflow issues surrounding large-scale digital content projects
- Demonstrated expertise in customizing a generic content/data model to meet the needs of a unique business, audience, and model
- Experience in process improvements, automation, workflow and search and retrieval technologies
- Experience in CMS system migrations, content audits, and digital lifecycles and workflows
- Familiarity with publishing standards including HTML and XML
