Director Monographs Processing Services, Columbia Univ – NY
Columbia University Libraries are seeking a Director of
Monographs Processing Services Division. As a member of the Libraries’
senior management team, the Director ensures that the processes for
acquiring and cataloging monographic materials align with national
policy and with CUL/IS strategic objectives. Applications will be
accepted immediately and until the position is filled, however applications submitted before October 25, 2013, will receive priority consideration.
Minimum Qualifications:
MLS or PhD:
1. Previous management and supervisory experience
2. Strong knowledge of library acquisitions and cataloging principles and previous acquisitions and cataloging experience
3. Knowledge of automated library applications (e.g. ILS system, Bibliographic utilities, etc.) as applied to acquisitions and cataloging functions
4. Knowledge of RDA, LCSH, LC Classification, MARC Format, Authority control issues
5. Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills
6. Ability to work collaboratively within the division and across organizational units
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
8. Knowledge of at least one Western European or non-Roman script language
9. Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
