(PT) Social Movements Scholar, Brooklyn Public Library – NY
Brooklyn Public Library seeks a Social Movements Scholar who will
work with Brooklyn Connections to help realize and create a
comprehensive curriculum for students 6th grade to 12th grade.
The curriculum will focus on movements in New York City (and Brooklyn specifically where applicable). Brooklyn Connections aims to connect students to original historical evidence and this position will aid in that goal. This is a part-time consultant position for an archivist, historian or public historian well-versed in archival research and social movements.

Responsibilities include:
- Develops/creates curriculum for a young adult audience
- Archival research pertaining to social movements in NYC.
- Authenticating and organizing all primary sources.
- Leads digitization of all sources with appropriate digital standards.
- Assists Project Manager and Project Educator with planning and organization of educational materials.
- Leads professional development for teachers
- Ensures adherence to all copyright usage rights.
- Responsible for all reproduction and obtaining hi-res files for reproduction.
- MA in History, Public History and/or Archival Science
- Background in NYC history with interest in Brooklyn History
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of archival standards and processes (MARC and/or DublinCore)
- Interest in education geared toward grades 6 through 12
- Ability to travel though out NYC, some lifting required
