E-Mag Content Quality Coordinator, Time Inc – NY


Time Inc seeks an E-magazine Content Quality Coordinator. This position is located in New York, NY.

The E-Content Management Group, as part of Time Inc Production Technologies, enhances and oversees the conversion of published content into XML format for redistribution to our websites, mobile apps, licencors, syndicators, and content partners.

Content Quality Coordinators handle a variety of assets including XML, PDF, JPEG, and InDesign documents, aggregating / packaging them for conversion to XML by offshore partners. Resulting XML is validated and then categorized against the Time Inc. taxonomy before it is ingested into the digital asset management system (DAM) for redistribution to our partners.

Responsibilities:
1. Maintain E-MaG content quality:
o Supervise content conversion process
-Communicate XML quality control procedures to content conversion partners
-Manage process queries from content conversion partners
-Generate feedback reports for quality assessment of content converter performance
-Facilitate weekly conference calls with offshore content conversion partners to review content quality and discuss process improvements
-Communicate and negotiate schedules and deadlines with conversion partners

o Perform quality assurance for all XML converted content
o Process and perform quality assurance on all E-MaG PDF assets
o Editing and enhancing converted XML content (linking assets, applying subject and named entity values, etc.)
o Back up offshore content conversion partners by utilizing XML conversion plugins to InDesign

2. Manage E-MaG user needs:
o Work with magazine production teams to obtain and verify publishing schedules
o Facilitate the workflow for receiving source files from magazine groups
o Communicate text rights issues with designated magazine contacts
o Determine and maintain production priorities across weekly and monthly titles
o Deliver XML content to E-MaG recipients in a timely and accurate manner according to established schedules
o Communicate delivery delays in a timely manner

3. Improve the content conversion process:
o Identify workflow improvements
o Update documentation when workflow changes are implemented
o Test improvements to workflow applications

• Detail-orientation and strong organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Possess polished customer service skills for use with internal and external customers
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot workflow issues, both independently and proactively
• Strong technical aptitude

Preferred Skills:
• Knowledgeable in XML, HTML, Adobe InDesign and Acrobat
• Proficiency in the system development lifecycle
• Prior experience working with offshore service companies preferred
