Prudential International Insurance (PII) conducts business in ten countries across the globe competing against both multinational and domestic financial companies.  The Marketing & Strategy Group of PII conducts research and provides market insights to key stakeholders including senior management regional offices, as well as individual countries where PII conducts business.  This requires synthesizing a large amount of information from a broad array of sources to provide actionable intelligence (not just the “what” but the “so what”).  PII recently launched a social business platform, which will be a critical tool in sharing market and competitive intelligence across the company.  The team is looking for an energetic and motivated Competitive Intelligence Analyst with strong research and analytical skills to enable PII’s continued success.
 
The incumbent will monitor PII’s external operating environment in key countries and across two regions – Asia and Latin America.  He/she will track about a dozen multinational insurers, as well as the top domestic competitors in local countries to understand their strategies and the market drivers behind them.  Research projects also involve looking at new markets for growth opportunities.  These market insights will also feed into the strategic planning process.  The person will work collaboratively with local country, regional and home office staffs to collect and exchange information about PII competitors, including product development trends and other key activities.  He/she will serve as a subject matter expert on PII’s social business platform and help build a global community of CI experts across the company. 
 
The successful candidate will develop timely and relevant content through a variety of communications tools (presentations, online newsletters, blogs; etc.) to keep PII management apprised of market developments.
 
The Competitive Intelligence Analyst will report to VP, Strategy and Competitive Analysis.
 
General responsibilities: 
·         Conduct ad hoc secondary research using specialized databases
·         Monitor and collect financial data and other key metrics on competitors, using a variety of data sources
·         Prepare regularly-scheduled reports on competitor results and other market developments
·         Collaborate with other functional areas in PII Newark, as well as local country and regional contacts to share and leverage information  
·         Assist in developing and managing content for the “Market Intelligence” space on PII’s social business platform, including writing and posting editorial content and graphics   

Qualifications

Bachelor degree required
Minimum three years' experience in competitive intelligence, market research
Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data into relevant and actionable intelligence
Strong written and oral communications
Must have high competency in database research tools such as Lexis/Nexis, S&P Capital IQ, Thompson Reuters DataPro, Bloomberg.  
Stays current in all aspects of market intelligence software and other information resources
Outstanding collaborative skills and ability to interface at all levels within the organization; including sensitivity to cultural differences
Attention to detail and data accuracy
Ability to manage priorities and multi-task
Knowledge of Prudential business and administrative procedures is a plus
