The candidate will work within Music Library and Music Licensing areas of ABC’s New York Music Department.
Music licensing tasks include working with the Executive Director throughout the clearance and licensing process. He/she will be responsible for all areas of music licensing: researching copyright ownership, negotiating publishing and master recording rights, reviewing licensing agreements, administering payments and tracking the process from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have established contacts within the music industry and excellent negotiation and people skills. He/she will be extremely detail oriented and also able to work under pressure. Many of our clients are part of the News division and deadlines are often very short, candidate must be able to work quickly and carefully and handle a high volume of clearances/licenses. Candidate must also be able to assist clients in finding suitable alternatives when songs are denied or licensing fees exceed the established music budget. He/she will work primarily with Good Morning America, News Magazines (20/20, Nightline, What Would You Do), other ABC News produced shows, The View, The Chew and Daytime as well as coordinate with the Rights and Clearances, Legal and Finance departments.
