Information Specialist - Ogilvy & Mather
The Intelligence Group is Ogilvy & Mather’s research
and information team. We provide research support to planners, account teams,
new business, executive leadership, and others. We manage the resources and
databases for the agency as well as handling 2,000 research requests a year.
Our Research Library houses digital resources as well as books, industry
publications and periodicals. We bring the outside, in.
Remit:
Provide authoritative and decision-ready research
for clients, pitches, and business development. Curate and create quality
information on subjects relevant to clients and the advertising business. Apply
information architecture theory and practice to organize knowledge assets for
user-friendly retrieval and distribution.
Key Accountabilities:

Providing authoritative, high quality research on
broad range of communications, consumer, and industry related questions.

Architecture of the Intelligence Center & Research Library’s digital assets for efficient and user-friendly
retrieval.

Research Library collection processing and
maintenance.
- Creating
knowledge assets (e.g. reports, one-pagers, infographics) on relevant and
topical subjects.
- Guide
users in accessing self-service tools and resources.
Job Responsibilities:
- Answer ad-hoc research requests on a broad range of communications
or consumer related subjects using proprietary and syndicated resources.
- Organize and maintain internal databases and digital collections.
- Analyze usage statistics to understand and anticipate user needs.
- Prepare user-guides for research resources and tools.
- Update WW Planning Portal, WW Information & Intelligence Group,
OPAC, and social media accounts.
- Help conduct staff inductions and tours of the library space and
services.
- Perform any other duties as may be determined by the Head of
Intelligence Group or Research Library Manager.
Relevant Experience & Skills:
- MLIS or equivalent business research skills and experience.
- 2 – 3 years of experience providing research service in a business
setting.
- Adept at database and online searching, including Factiva,
Lexis-Nexis, Hoover’s, Mintel, Euromonitor, Redbooks, WARC.
- Knowledgeable about trends, issues, and resources in advertising
and marketing.
- Highly proficient computer skills – especially in database
management and cloud computing.
- Experience in administrating websites, intranets or OPACs, esp.
EOS, is a huge plus.
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Relevant Qualities:
The position calls for a meticulous but creative problem-solver, who is organized and able to
handle short deadlines and last minute requests. The ideal candidate would be a
proactive researcher with solid fundamentals in information science who can
provide an excellent business library service – moving beyond the traditional
reference service model. A candidate with background and interest in marketing,
advertising, social trends and psychology would be a plus.
