James Lenox Librarian, Princeton Theological Seminary – NJ

Princeton Theological Seminary, located in Princeton, NJ, seeks an experienced, strategic, and visionary leader to serve as the James Lenox Librarian.  This is an appointment made by the President and the Board of Trustees. The Librarian reports to the President and is a voting member of the Faculty.
Job Description: 
The Lenox Librarian will set the trajectory for the library’s future under the seminary’s strategic plan, promote the development of its physical and digital collections, and embrace innovation that serves the evolving needs of the library’s users and the theological disciplines.  The Librarian will advance the public visibility of the library as a center for scholarship, learning, and vibrant intellectual life, both locally and globally.  The successful candidate will demonstrate effectiveness in leading a staff, supporting professional development, and cultivating an empowering and creative working environment.  The Librarian will build collaborative partnerships with faculty and other libraries and institutions to promote collection development and open access to scholarly resources.
Job Requirements: 
The successful candidate will demonstrate at least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a research library and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing research libraries in the 21stcentury.  The candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven ability to set and execute strategic vision aligned with institutional priorities, and effectiveness in managing budgets, personnel, and resources. A Master’s degree in library or information science or equivalent training and experience is required. Academic subject knowledge in a theological discipline, demonstrated by a MA, PhD, or equivalent experience, is strongly preferred.  Knowledge of scholarly communication and copyright issues is also preferred.
