F/T - Librarian, College of Mt. St. Vincent (NY)

The College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Bronx, NY is seeking a Librarian.

Librarian
Summary

The full-time Librarian 1 position reports to the Library Director. This position will collaborate with the Library staff to support the College’s faculty and students.

The position will have a well-rounded exposure to all aspects of Library management and implementation and is an excellent opportunity for experience in a College academic setting. The candidate will have strong reference experience in an academic environment, familiarity with current and emerging library technology and a passion to promote information literacy.

The candidate will have a strong user service orientation, core academic values, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to lead and build consensus among library staff, faculty and students. The candidate will speak before student classes to teach information literacy skills.

The position will require some weekend hours and afternoon/evening hours.

·        Circulation
·        Library Instruction
·        InterLibrary Loan Administration
·        Collection Development
Qualifications

·        ALA-Accredited MLS/MLIS
·        Minimum 1 year post-MLS experience in an academic library setting
·        Knowledge of LCSH, LC Classification
·        Excellent writing and public speaking skills
·        Extensive knowledge of desktop computing and general office software (including but not limited to Microsoft Word – Excel – PowerPoint)
·        Advanced internet searching skills
