Library Technical Services Specialist, Wiley – NJ

Wiley is looking for a Library Technical Services Specialist. Global responsibility for developing and implementing Library Technical Support Programs that directly support and engage with librarians who manage the integration of Wiley products and metadata with library systems to ensure that Wiley products are optimized for discovery and usage. Proactively support customers with integrating and obtaining MARC records for oBook purchases, and resolving missing or incomplete records by acting as a liaison between the customer, sales support, and other internal Wiley constituencies. Develop, provide and disseminate to customers best practices in discoverability for Obooks, journals, and other Wiley product categories. Manage internal sales training and support program to educate and support account managers from multiple regions. Understand customer needs and their changing requirements and share with sales, sales support and technology where necessary.
  • MLS (Masters in Library Science)
  • 3-5 years as a technical services librarian or electronic resources librarian in an academic research library environment and/or similar experience in a previous position with a scholarly content publisher
  • Expertise in books cataloguing, MARC and OPAC knowledge AACR2, RDA, MARC formats; descriptive cataloguing practices; authority control, Dewey classification, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and serial control. Federated search tools.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Sound knowledge of MS office applications
  • Ability to influence without authority, to solicit support from other sales & marketing colleagues
  • Willingness to travel when required
  • High level of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Experience and desire to interact with patrons and customers
  • High level of service orientation
