Society Staffing seeks an experienced Archivist for their client, a private artist in NYC, to manage the organization and maintenance of relevant records & documents, artworks, and other materials of significance.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Cataloguing collections and managing information and records
- Designing and implementing record-keeping systems and procedures
- Evaluating records for preservation and retention; some may need careful handling, repair or conservation
- Handling all pieces of information with discretion
- Liaising with vendors, contractors, galleries, museums, etc.
- Responding to any correspondence, answering telephone calls, and drafting emails
- Coordinating exhibitions, talks and visits
- Identifying ways of protecting and preserving collections
- Managing and supervising any additional staff
- Assisting with special request or related duties
This is a full-time position. Salary is generous but DOE. This position includes a full benefits package and also holds the potential to earn an annual discretionary bonus.
Requirements:
- 4 year degree in related field from accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years related experience
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers
- Prioritize executive tasks and multi-task effectively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Fluency in French, German or Hebrew is a plus
- Proficiency in all areas of Photoshop, Microsoft Office and Mac OSX
- Professional mindset and the utmost discretion
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills
- Flexibility with hours and scheduling
- United States work authorization or a work visa can be arranged
