F/T - Sr. Info Architect, NBC Universal (NY)

Information Architect, NBC Universal – NY

NBCU is looking for a Senior Information Architect that will be an integral addition to our team. This role will be based out of NY with some travel to Stamford, CT, and work redesigning many systems that support NBC Universal businesses around the globe.
As the Information Architect, you will:
  • Define information/data flows, information/data delivery architecture and information/data tools.
  • Work with Solution and Application Architects to review business drivers, needs and strategies and assess the implications to the information/data architecture.
  • Identify, assess, and document business requirements for information/data, and advising businesses on options, risks, and costs versus benefits.
  • Design data schemas for both analytic and and operational applications, across many technologies and platforms
  • Be responsible for architecting the flow of data between system components. Potential system components include external applications, industry standard off the shelf apps, and custom coded applications.
  • Architect scalable, high-performance back-end database systems including data warehouses and data marts.
  • Partner with the Application Architects to design effective data schemas for operational applications.
  • Assist in the design of business intelligence systems and dashboards/interfaces to support data mining; data analytics; and report generation
  • Define data requirements and participate in design reviews.
  • Communicate business data prioritization decisions to the relevant technology organizations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 10 + years of experience data management and information architecture
  • Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related technical field.
  • Extensive experience in designing complex solutions and systems, both operational and analytic
  • Extensive experience with data modeling concepts and tools. ErWin and/or PowerBuilder preferred.
  • Experience implementing current information security best practices
  • Experience with data warehousing and analytics, tools, protocols and practices
  • Familiarity with Big Data concepts, tools, utilities, protocols, and practices
  • Familiarity with Cloud Computing architectures, protocols, and practices
  • Demonstrated experience employing current principles, practices, tools and procedures of computer programming
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, learning and employing emergent computing languages and frameworks on a variety of operating systems including Windows and
Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience in the entertainment industry is a plus
  • Must be able to work in complex environments, managing a high volume work with mutli-location teams
  • Must exhibit strong team work and collaboration skills
  • Must have demonstrated experience in partnering with the business and senior management.
  • Hadoop, Teradata, Sql Server, Oracle experience is a plus
  • Linux.
  • Significant experience designing and implementing web-based information systems including web interface; business logic/middleware; and database back-end
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical briefings and conducting training
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of clients’ timelines and budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality technical documentation
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
