Digital Operations and Asset Manager, Ralph Lauren – NY

Ralph Lauren is seeking the Digital Operations and Asset Manager, who will be responsible for supporting metadata management, digitization, and ingestion of Ralph Lauren design assets. Currently the Library’s assets range from vintage clothing and historical Ralph Lauren garments, runway and showroom images as well as advertising campaigns and inspirational stock content.  The manager will work with the design community to facilitate the onboarding of future assets.
Responsibilities
  1. Manage the hiring, scheduling, and payroll for the digital operations team.
  2. Manage the day-to-day communication, project management, and quality control processes for the digital operations team, serving a key role in the achievement of digital production goals for the Ralph Lauren Library.
    1. Cataloguing
    2. RFID encoding
    3. Photography & scanning
    4. Upload
  3. Validate and maintain new and existing assets.
    1. Edit & enhance digital records
    2. Partner with design teams to select assets for keywording and alternative view photography projects.
  4. Maintain the Ralph Lauren Library Style Guides. The guides define the standards for cataloging and photography to ensure the collective effort for RL Library is accurate, intuitive, and aligned with the business goals. The Cataloguing Guide applies to all asset categories and covers but is not limited to:
    1. Photography & file standards
    2. Related assets
    3. Metadata values
    4. Description & keywords
  5. Partner with Library Managers to ensure new contributions to the Library are processed effectively. Take ownership of digital content after pass off.
  6. Partner with the design community to plan and implement ingestion of digital assets stored offline on department servers and physically in design offices.
  7. Connect with fellow business partners to plan and implement the ingestion of legacy roadmap systems related to design content.
  8. Help facilitate user groups and implementation of eDAM governance, once established.
  9. Participate in validation of asset migration, testing, and training for eDAM rollout.
  10. Demonstrate an understanding of the RL Library collection as it relates to the broader history of fashion and textile design.
  11. Meet the responsibilities and expectations for ad hoc projects.

Job Requirements
  • Masters degree in Library Science, Collection Management or related field.  Expressed interest in visual collections as they relate to fashion/textile history.

  • 2-4 years experience in a library, archive, or digital collection. Experience with digitization workflows a must. Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Capture One.
