Provide research support to news staff, with an especially heavy focus
on statistics of all kinds (education, gun violence, Poverty, etc.)
Build and maintain new and existing research pages on our website
(Education Nation, obits, natural disasters, mass shootings, etc.)
Identify and scan headlines and articles for on-air use and archived transcripts for other research purposes.
Maintain information resource collection--processing and cataloging
incoming materials, shelving books and periodicals, maintaining
electronic and print subscriptions, paying vendors, tracking spending,
etc.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have demonstrated Research Skills: Factiva, Nexis, Accurint, EBSCO and other open sources
Must be proficient in Outlook and iNews
Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
Must have a mAsters degree in Library and Information Science
Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and on short notice Eligibility Requirements:

be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline
pressure, including breaking news. Schedules will rotate, but must be
able to work all shifts, including weekends and overnights. Must be
able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no
notice if needed.
Must be willing to work in NYC.
Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Must be 18 years or older.
Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills, and editorial judgment.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and Practices.
Ability to work well under pressure and change gears quickly
