Circulation Manager
Description
The Levy Library of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine is seeking a motivated, resourceful, and dynamic librarian for the position of Evening/Weekend Circulation Manager. In this challenging position, the successful candidate provides leadership, management and planning for all aspects of circulation operations. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and schedule the evening/weekend staff of library assistants and the circulation supervisor.
- Hire, train, and conduct performance evaluations of circulation staff.
- Oversee and monitor day to day operations of the department.
- Develop short and long-range goals and objectives for circulation services.
- Implement, evaluate and revise departmental procedures, policies and technology to improve both workflow and customer service.
- Oversee stack maintenance, including shelving, shelf-reading and participating in periodic inventory and weeding projects.
- Troubleshoot problems related to circulation services, facilities, printing, computers, and access issues for electronic resources.
- Compile and maintain circulation related statistics, including gate count, copy/print usage, and cash receipts related to circulation services.
- Provide in-person, telephone, and virtual reference services.
- Promote library services and resources through the library newsletter, blog and other marketing efforts.
- Develop instructional materials and tutorials to be delivered through the Library’s website and Blackboard learning management system.
- Participate in library-wide staff meetings and planning of new library services.

Job Requirements
Experience
MLS from an ALA accredited program. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong public service orientation and demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively. Supervisory experience, preferably in an academic, public or hospital library with a proven track record of leadership and initiative. Experience using biomedical resources and bibliographic management software such as EndNote and RefWorks.
The tentative schedule for this position is Sunday - Thursday, from 4:00pm - midnight.
