Editorial Researcher, Consumer Reports – NY
Consumer Reports seeks an Editorial Researcher to check facts for non-test related information to confirm accuracy and adjusts text accordingly, for articles across all media channels.
Qualifications Include:
- College graduate, graduate credits preferred, with a concentration in science and writing
- 1 – 2 years experience doing research for print or web publications.
- Must demonstrate good editorial research and interviewing skills.
- Must be able to understand and translate statistical and technical data into plain English.
- Needs to be strongly detail oriented, thorough and resourceful.
- Must work well under rigid deadline pressure in multimedia environment.
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fact checks copy including reviewing sources provided by writers and editors for completeness and accuracy
- Ensures text is accurate and is derived from appropriate sources
- Works with writers and editors on sourcing issues and wording of articles
- Suggests clarifying phrases or wording to ensure accurate presentation of facts
- Locates additional sources of data as needed to validate facts
- May write short articles, blogs or sidebar assignments as approved by manager
- Performs other duties as assigned but not those of a higher level.
