Media & Digital Rscs Librarian, Iona College (NY)

Iona College in New Rochelle, NY is seeking a Media & Digital Resources Librarian.


Job Summary:

This position is responsible for maintaining the library’s electronic resources; assisting faculty with the production of media-enhanced and online courses; promoting the use by faculty of media technologies for teaching, research,  presentations, or publication; and for providing a range of professional library services including reference, instruction, and collection development.

Qualifications:

Education: ALA accredited Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science required.

Experience:  One to three years of professional experience in a technologically forward academic library preferred.  One year of supervisory experience preferred.

Specialized Skills:  Knowledge and practice of database systems, electronic serials management, library systems, course management systems, distance learning strategy, video recording and editing, and Web development. Experience in implementing a digitization and processing plan for archival collections using a Mac platform.

Physical Requirements:  Able to carry and transport video production equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Administer all aspects of library electronic resources and related systems including databases, electronic serials, and Internet resources. Responsibilities include system customization, testing and development; user training and support; troubleshooting and problem solving; collection development and budget administration.

·        Train and supervise the Media Specialist.

·        Serve as the primary back up to the Media Specialist, recording, editing and producing events or other programs as needed.

·        Responsible for planning and implementing the digitization project of the Thanhouser Film Archive, including but not limited to scanning , file management, developing the public interface to the collection, preparing reports, and training student workers.

·        Consult with faculty on research, planning, and production of web-enhanced and online courses and the use of educational technologies; facilitate faculty requests within Information Technology and the Library.

·        Support and train faculty in the utilization of information and educational technologies including Blackboard, Blackboard Collaborate, Turnitin, Smart Board, MS Office applications, laptops, digital cameras, scanning equipment, multimedia, PeopleSoft, the Internet and other academic software packages.

·        Plan, develop and teach workshops supporting technology learning and library services. Assist in planning and implementing seminars and workshops presented by faculty members.

·        Provide library services including reference services and serve as library liaison to various departments, providing research support to faculty and students; and working collegially with faculty and other librarians to develop the library collection, provide information literacy instruction and promote information and technological literacy.
·        Maintain and enhance the library website, the library system interface and assigned academic sections of the Iona College website according to the design and quality standards, ensuring that information is accurate, current and positively reflects the mission of the College.

·        Research, test, and manage implementation of new information, communication, and educational technology solutions.
·        Advise faculty of appropriate media resources for teaching or presentations. Instruct faculty in the use of cameras, post-production software and hardware. Develop creative strategies to encourage faculty to use media resources and new technologies in their online, hybrid, or traditional classes.

·        Participate in Freshmen Orientation Project by teaching technology class. Participate in Freshmen Move-In Day.

·        Work evenings and weekends as needed.

·        Complete other projects as assigned by management.
