F/T - Researcher, NBC Universal (NY)

Researcher, NBC Universal – NY

NBC Universal is seeking a Researcher to assist in production of the Today show.

As a Researcher, you will work directly with Associate Producers, Producers and Senior Producers to assist in the production of original content for the broadcast. The Researcher shift begins at 11 am and will focus primarily on segments for the next day’s show. 




Responsibilities:
• Researcher will function in a crash capacity assisting in full scope of pre-production for next-day segments, including: researching, conducting interviews and pre-interviews, gathering elements.
• Researcher is expected to both pitch story ideas and work on assigned stories developed by the editorial team.
• Researcher is expected to help fill in for PAs where needed.


Basic Qualifications:
• Must have at least one year experience working in production at the network level
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree.


Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news. Schedules will rotate, but must be able to work all shifts, including overnights. Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice if needed.
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
• Must be willing to take submit to a background investigation.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States


Desired Characteristics:
• DV shooting experience.
• Experience in non-linear editing
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
• Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills, and editorial judgment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
• Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and Practices.
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events.
