Director of Communications & Knowledge Management, Affordable Jewish Education Project – NY
First and foremost, the DCKM will be responsible for managing our external communications with various stakeholders including donors, schools, and parents in an effort to mobilize the community around our mission. This includes overall management and delivery of AJE’s communications strategy development, planning, and implementation. In addition to the more traditional communications role, the DCKM will work internally to aggregate, organize, analyze, and optimize the sharing of the most important information and insights being accumulated and developed within AJE and our partner school network. The information will be used for disseminating best practices and lessons learned, scaling efforts and creating efficiencies, and evaluating our programs.
Responsibilities
Communications Strategy, Vision, & Leadership
- Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance AJE’s brand identity, broaden awareness of its programs and priorities, and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences
- Create marketing/public relations strategy that will allow AJE leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with donors, schools, and community leaders
- Work with AJE leaders and partner schools to ensure overall consistency and effectiveness of communications
- Identify public relations challenges and emerging issues; recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them
- Oversee development of all AJE print & electronic communications; Lead the generation of online content that engages various stakeholders
- Manage press relationships to ensure coverage surrounding AJE programs, announcements, and other projects
- Identify and prioritize media/public relations opportunities and help prepare supporting materials
- Work with Executive Director to develop and implement an integrated knowledge management strategy and plan for AJE and our partner schools
- Research, recommend, implement, and administer tools and procedures to enhance knowledge management effectiveness
- Facilitate internal communications between partner schools (including lay and professional leadership) and serve as internal advocate for knowledge sharing program
- Disseminate information about the organization’s knowledge sharing program to internal and external audiences

- Experience with full-time responsibilities developing communications strategy and implementation across channels for a complex nonprofit entity
- Innovative thinker with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
